We’ve put together a series of pictures from around our school to give you a good idea of how we utilize our available space. Our students are able to experience our learning methodology through spaces that thoughtfully embody our mission, philosophy, and inspiration.
You’ll see consistent themes supporting small groups, natural curiosity, self-discovery, and exploration of their world to foster skills that lead to life-long learning in your child.
We know that children are naturally curious and inquisitive about the world around them. We encourage children to seek out answers to their questions and build theories through exploration. Children are guided to represent their thoughts and ideas with their 100’s of languages: art, movement, construction, writing, theater and more! A child’s day at PRCP follows a predictable child centered schedule that invites self-discovery and also incorporates important daily routines. These daily routines such as mealtimes, bathroom time and rest time are seen as opportunities for growth and learning and are never rushed.

Parker River Community School at a glance…
We are a small constructivist, arts & nature loving preschool, inspired by the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy and other progressive educators. We welcome families who are looking for a warm, nurturing community with child-centered & literacy rich curriculum. Our preschoolers, toddlers, and kindergartners are thoughtful friends,
out-of-the-box-thinkers and life long learners!
Location & Design…
PRCP is located in downtown Rowley at 181 Main Street just 8 miles from downtown Newburyport and 3 miles from downtown Ipswich. Residing under our illuminated vintage school bell perched atop our building, our school is purposefully renovated and designed for children. Our spaces are filled with natural light, open-ended materials and the sound of children at play. We have four enclosed outdoor classrooms spaces and are surrounded by local resources such as nature trails, the local library, fire station, and more! When children graduate from the PRCP Preschool Program they head to our Kindergarten Program or public K in surrounding towns or off to private schools—we help families with the transition and make sure they have mastered the skills necessary for Kindergarten and beyond!
